The classic denim jacket has served us well for many years. It is the classic staple to all of our wardrobes, whatever our age, shape, size or gender. It is the true capsule piece that is worth investing in. Ever since I can remember I have always had a denim jacket in my wardrobe. It’s that perfect piece to throw over a summer dress, dress down a smart outfit or to layer up on colder days.

There are many styles to choose from whether you go for a classic cut or prefer a fresh update with an oversized version which I recently purchased from H&M.

As we requested I have put together a little style guide showing you 5 ways to wear your classic denim jacket. I hope that this offers you a little inspiration using items that you probably already have in your wardrobes.

The Floral Dress

I love a floral dress style with a denim jacket. Sometimes I can feel a bit ‘mummsie’ wearing a floral dress, but by adding this layer it gives your outfit a little edge and interest. It’s also a great way to add balance to your look, creating more definition around the waist without having to add a belt.

The White Jean

The white jean is the perfect denim alternative for the summer months. It’s also another option instead of the double denim look that could start to look a bit like an 80’s throw back. This adds a stylish and chic finish to a simple outfit. Team it with some tan accessories and shoes to tie the whole look together.

The Wide leg Trouser

The most classic look that never dates. This outfit creates a put together smart casual look. it’s totally ageless and one that always looks super elegant.

The Animal Print Skirt

A denim jacket will totally tone down this statement skirt. Like a denim jacket, leopard print is definitely a staple wardrobe item. The outfit feels much less dressy, has a more daytime feel but still feels stylish and put together.

The Jumpsuit

This is one of my favourite looks. A jumpsuit will take you from day to night but again by adding a denim jacket to the look, it becomes much more casual and dressed down. Add a summer feel to the outfit with crochet bag and Birkenstock style slider.
