It’s the weekend, it’s Sunday, the weather has been all over the place and I’m recovering from a hen do the night before; so what better way to spend the afternoon than a trip with the family to the cinema to watch Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book’. An absolute childhood classic of a film for everyone! My dad has always showed my boys clips from the old movie on YouTube which meant we needed to purchase the film on DVD and it’s now one of their favourites. I’ve lost count of the number of times that we have watched it. When out at the Southbank a few weeks ago, my eldest son spotted the poster for the new film! We haven’t been allowed to forget about it with the constant nagging, moaning, whining that “it isn’t fair we never get to go to the cinema!” – Yeah right! We booked the 3D screen which I’ve never been to before. The lights go down, everyone is munching on popcorn (homemade with coconut oil and himalayan salt of course!) and the film begins. I thought I was going to be asleep in about 10 minutes but I was totally engaged. I had no idea how it had been remade but was amazed how natural and real the animals looked. Mowgli played by Neel Sethi was fantastic bearing in mind that this film was shot on a sound stage with nothing but puppets and a director. I jumped out of my seat several times, sung along with familiar songs and even shed a tear. What a lovely film.
